ABOUT MY WASHED BRAIN

Spiritual Abuse. Thought Reform. Brain Washing. Big words that are hard to define and difficult to fully understand. Concepts that are not easy to identify, let alone argue or even prove. 

Welcome to MY WASHED BRAIN. I'm hoping to share my first hand experiences of these things as a victim and survivor and, to my shame and embarrassment, as a person who unwittingly participated in these toxic practices.

I was recruited into a high control, religious organisation in my mid teens and spent almost twenty years living as a member and leader within its often wonderful, but also confusing and abusive complex structure. I had no idea I was abused. Until recently.

I am not a professional therapist, nor do I have any counselling qualifications

I am a professional musician, married for 33 years, mother of three grown up kids,  and aspiring author, seeking to give voice, vocabulary, understanding and support to others who are on similar recovery journeys.
